In case of chronic headache, we generally recommend 8 weeks of uninterrupted therapy and we guarantee that you will feel the difference once you have finished the treatment.

Also, we want to stress that the most important thing to keep in mind is that the patients should be willing to adhere to a healthy lifestyle; to improve their diet, commit to a routine workout plan, and strive to achieve both mental and physical health.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a highly potent treatment for pain. It works by stimulating the flow of qi in the area being treated.

According to the theory of Traditional Eastern Medicine, pain is caused by an obstruction in the flow of qi. Thus, by stimulating the qi of a specific area in pain, we are able to relieve the pain. In Western terminology, we can say that acupuncture treatment raises endorphin levels and diminishes the nerve system’s pain response.

Although scientific researches are still in the process of fully explaining the mechanism behind acupuncture, qi treatments, and other alternative pain treatment methods, there are vast number of studies proving the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment for symptoms of acute and chronic pain.

As most patients who have received acupuncture and acupressure treatments for– low back, neck, shoulder pain, migraines, and chronic headaches –can attest to the eye-opening results, acupuncture is a highly effective and safe way of treating pain compared to conventional pain therapies like consuming painkillers, NSAIDS, and analgesics.

Acupuncture is a superior treatment for pain compared to conventional painkillers and analgesics since it stimulates the healing process while fundamentally treating pain. Also conventional medicines require a continual increase of dosage to maintain a desired effect but acupuncture can be done repeatedly if necessary without the toxicity of the medication.

What should I do after an acupuncture session?

  • Rest: If you want your acupuncture treatment to be highly effective, make sure you take a day off for yourself to completely relax and unwind. You don’t have to spend your day in bed but make sure to avoid any physically challenging activity or vigorous exercise. It is also equally important to avoid anything that might drain you emotionally.

  • Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine: One of the benefits of acupuncture treatment is that it boost your body’s ability to detoxify naturally. Drinking plenty of water after therapy will facilitate the detox process. On the other hand, alcohol and caffeine should be avoided since they tend to dehydrate your body and also it can be taxing on your liver.

  • Eat Healthy Food: Junk food, processed food or something with too much sugar is not good for your body. Healthy diet is the key to the healing process. Think of it as an extension of your acupuncture session and make sure you eat something that would nourish your body.
